Our Commitment to Southdale Elementary

Inspired by Jesus’ teaching that whatever we do for the least of these—especially children—we are serving Him, we have chosen Southdale Elementary School as one of our primary mission fields.

School Supply Collections

Each July, Southern Hills organizes a drive to collect school supplies based on the lists provided on Southdale Elementary’s website. Neighborhood children are invited to choose the supplies they need, and any remaining items are boxed and delivered directly to the school. These supplies are made available for teachers to use throughout the year. This initiative helps reduce the financial burden on teachers, who often spend their own money to purchase materials for students who cannot provide them themselves.

Mid-Year Supply Drive

Midway through the school year, we hold a second collection focusing on items that children frequently use and quickly run out of, such as pencils, crayons, colored pencils, dry-erase markers, and glue sticks.

Supporting Younger Students

Recognizing that kindergarteners and first graders sometimes have “accidents,” we also gather new packages of underwear, sweatpants, and socks. Previously, these necessities had to be purchased by the office staff, but our support helps ensure these items are readily available when needed.
